Your host Lindsay Elkington was brought up on Durville Island. His father Turi Elkington had the mail run which circumnavigated D'Urville Island every Tuesday to deliver mail and supplies to the island's residents. Lindsay began his seafaring apprenticeship training under his father, who taught him about the waters around the island. He left the island in his early twenties to pursue a career as a commercial fisherman. Lindsay holds his Deep Sea Masters Certificate. His fishing career took him to places all over the world. Lindsay worked in South Africa for two years, fishing in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. He has returned to D'Urville Island to establish D'Urville Island Water Taxis and Charters. He is continuing to pursue his passion for working on the water. With his historic local knowledge and seafaring expertise, Lindsay will ensure you have a wonderful D'Urville Island experience.
